Patrick Kane

Nov. 20, 1864

Kane was not a Confederate soldier. He was the Irish overseer for Dr. William Jarratt and was shot by Federal troops while defending the Jarratt plantation. After Kane was killed, Union soldiers set fire to the plantation. His was the only violent death during Sherman’s capture and occupation of Milledgeville.
