Mary V. Little Adams

June 20, 1847 - Feb 2, 1867

This marker is carved by stone carver, J. Artopé of Macon, and shows an angel holding a quill and book, symbolizing the book of life, and a stump with ivy, symbolizing a life left unfinished when cut off by death. Note that she was not yet 20 when she died.

The cast iron fence around the lot is dated 1870 and was made by Crocketts of Macon, which operated from 1869 to the 1890s. Cast iron surrounds were introduced in the Victorian period (the time of Queen Victoria 1837–1901) to establish some privacy around the graves.
